#JLF2016: Molly Crabapple on migrants, gaza, Iraq & Syria
Rolling Stone described her work as "God's own circus posters." Illustrating DC and Marvel Comics, creating a burlesque life-drawing class, modelling for Suicide Girls, reporting from conflict zones like Gaza, Iraq and Syria (she was shortlisted for a 2013 Frontline Print Journalism Award for her reportage on Guantanamo Bay), being featured at the Museum of Modern Art. Molly Crabapple is as eclectic an artist as she is insatiable.
Originally from New York, her work has taken her around the world and she's worked for a slew of media houses, from CNN to Vanity Fair. Crabapple, who's also a contributing editor for VICE, recently released her memoir, Drawing Blood, published by Harper Collins. and spoke at the JLF on her personal aesthetic and politics, and how a combination of both has always informed her art.
