One memorable experience in space was when I saw earth for the first time. Anousheh Ansari at #JLF

She's the first Iranian woman to ever go to space. And at the Jaipur Literature Festival 2016, Anousheh Ansari launched her book about it - > My Dream of Stars.

Ansari is the first Iranian woman in space and the first self-funded woman to travel to the International Space Station. She made that trip to space in 2006 as part of a Soyuz flight. Growing up during the times of the Islamic Revolution, Ansari migrated to the United States when she was just 16 years old.

In an interview at the Jaipur Literature Festival, Anousheh takes us through the Overview Effect - what it means to see Earth for the first time.

She also discusses whether feminism is at odds with Islam. And circumventing the politics of Iran, that never gave her the opportunities that her adopted country, the Unites States, gave her.

And best of all, why astronauts would make the best political leaders.
