#60Seconds with Avirook Sen: Should the media be accountable for Arushi verdict?

Avirook Sen finds himself in a unique position to speak about journalistic ethics within the omnipresent spectacle of the media trial. As a journalist himself, Avirook has had first hand experience of the trials and tribulations of reporting a story properly.

But, as the author of the best-selling book Aarushi, based on the Aarushi Talwar case, that has now been turned into a feature film, directed by Meghna Gulza. Journalist Sen is doubly qualified. "Avirook Sen attended the trial, accessed important documents and interviewed all the players." Through his book, which deals with the murder and subsequent media and judicial circus that followed, he has been a front-row spectator (and occasional participant) to one of the most vociferous media trials in recent memory.

In a conversation with Catch at the Jaipur Literature Festival, Sen shares his thoughts on whether it's enough for a media house to just apologise for misreporting in such highly charged cases.
