Delhi: Father and minor booked in Civil Lines hit-and-run case

On 4 April, a 33-year-old business consultant was run over and killed after a speeding car, being allegedly driven by a teenager, hit him while he was crossing the road. The incident took place at around 10 pm, on Sham Nath Marg in the Civil Lines area in Delhi.

Siddharth Sharma was reported to have died on the spot, as the teenager driving a Mercedes-Benz sped off after knocking him down.

The police have revealed that a case has been registered under the relevant provision of the Indian Penal Code. After the police identified the owner of the car as Manoj Agarwal, he was called to the police station, and it was revealed that it was his underage son who was at the wheel when the accident occurred.

Along with the teenager, who is being booked under the section of rash and negligent driving, the police have also brought charges against his father Manoj Agarwal for letting his underage son drive.
