The man who gave us Jab We Met, Bollywood filmmaker Imtiaz Ali's latest offering is a 5-minute long short film starring a sex worker, with a plan. The film is bound to take you down memory lane, straight to 'Hotel Decent' and the dark alleys from Rockstar.
Answering questions about why he made the short film, Ali told reporters: "With this short film, I am opening up the doors to the digital world, to have conversations with interested people and organisations. I have these powerful, shorter stories that must be told and now can be told."
"Sometimes you have story ideas which you feel are not really meant for films... And I have some of them over the years which are very dear to me but I haven't made them because intrinsically I know it is not for theatre watch."
Talking about India Tomorrow, Ali said he deliberately chose a sex worker as the protagonist as "very often we feel 'her life is over, poor girl has no scope' but even she can, and very often they do have plans and dreams. So if they can, anyone can".
This isn't the first time a Bollywood director has released a short film of course. Anurag Kashyap and Sujoy Ghosh have made a successful foray into the genre before.
Have a plan? Lost and wished you had a plan? Either way, this film has over 211k views for a good reason.
